Anyone know what the torque specs are for the exhaust header nuts? I used 14nm, sealed so far but couldn’t find any information on it anywhere. Getting the O2 sensor wire free from 2 frame locking zip ties inside chassis was TOUGH!

Hi
I too have purchased a new AEW silencer for the 400x scrambler.

However it won't fit!

I have tried lubricating the pipe that goes to the cat.

But It won't go on!

I noticed there is a split sleeve of tube inside - which i presume is to seal the end where the bolt is - but it all seem s very tight & also close to the swinging arm.

Help appreciated on how you got yours to fit?

Hey I took mine off about 500 km ago. No problems. Sounds good when gunning it and think the cat gives it some back pressure if it's needed. I added about 2" of pipe to mine just to get it flush with the heat shield

Hi
Help!
The Aew silencer now fitted actually touches the swinging arm , it has actually marked the back of the silencer. Oldgoldie, how did you increase the clearance? I cannot use the bike as I am concerned more damage will occur to the swinging arm.

The silencer cannot be moved over as the existing mounts on the cat dont allow it!

I have written to the manufacturer and supplier. My bike is a March 24 uk bike.

So - I decided to keep my silencer after receiving a part refund via an excellent supplier & o also wrote to the manufacturer - suggesting the the exhaust for the 400x was modified at the back with a flat section & i provided a photograph showing where it was catching the back of the silencer.

I spoke with an exhaust maker - at a local shop and one solution was that you either 'flatten' or to put an indent - with a large ball hammer - where contact is shown at the back of the silencer.....however I decided to carry on thinking about it.......

So after much trial and error we have a solution.

I had to undo the header bolts and the other 3 exhaust mounts and put in washers as spacers at each location , mine ended up at @5mm , yours may need more or less....

I used a plastic strip wrapped in polyhene and sparyed with silicone to ensure gap stayed in place, between swinging arm and back of silencer, then tightened everything up and voila!

Looks good in my opinion and weighs @1.4 kg less than stock , with nice deep exhaust and with baffle in , not offensive!

I have suggested to manufacturers a flat section to back kf tge exhaust they make...

As I said before, with the db killer installed the AEW sounds virtually identical to the stock exhaust - with it removed it has a nice throaty sound but not really loud since the cat does a lot of the muffling. At idle and low speed it definitely won't upset the neighbors - only has a little bark when you open it up but still not very loud.

I just looked at my 2024 Scrambler and it does not have that O2 sensor. If my bike had one & I wanted to remove it I would stick wrench in there and just "break" it loose. then I would carefully/slowly remove the header/cat and completely unscrew the sensor before pulling the header/cat away from the bike.Since you're decating the bike what are your plans for the second O2 sensor? I haven't seen any decats with ports for that sensor. As far as I am aware the software has yet to be cracked so there is no way to tell the s/w to not look for the sensor.

@Oldgoldie thank you for your response. My main plan is to remove all the full system and change it with low exhaust or maybe high.! Im just wondering of how to remove the sensor and the catalytic converter. Example of picture is included which is grabbed from google lol. If you see the picture there is no catalytic converter. So where is the sensor go from the bottom? Thank you in advance

Ali Express sell a beautiful decat pipe in stainless steel to get rid of the big muffler underneath and the Cat.

This retain the stock chrome covers and can be used with the stock muffler. Works only for the model with One Lambda sensor
Which models use 2 sensors and what models only one.?I ordered the ALI systeem, looks like 3 pieces. Do I need to modify for the sensor at the downpipe ? What happens if you ride without any sensors?
