The mirror mounts work well for a cell phone mount.
Yes, except the right one is left hand thread. I was hoping they were both right hand thread, so I could thread a ball mount for my GPS, plus one for my GpPro. I ended up threading a ball mount on the left side, and using a clamp-on ball mount on the right side.

I saw an advert for this phone mount which mounts onto the top of the brake fluid reservoir - Quad Lock - quite clever, and would position it right where the USB socket is on the 400.

Added a Unit Garage XL windscreen last night and tested it this morning. The worst part of the install was the 4 bolts that hold the windscreen mount to the inside of the headlight mounts. There is very little room to get the bolt and your hand in there to get it started. Once I got the bolts started, however, tightening them was pretty easy with an open end 10mm wrench. The rest was very straight forward and there are videos on YouTube to show you how its done so I won't repeat those here.

I am 6'1" and at 60mph I can start to feel the wind at my neck. At 70 there is buffeting and it was pretty loud. I wear earplugs so I don't think it will bother me but it was noticeable. I don't know if its worse than without a screen because I rarely would go 60+mph due to wind on my chest without a screen. Chest pressure is definitely gone even at 70+mph and that's nice. I think a clip-on would take care of the buffeting at higher speeds. Side clips might also help reduce/eliminate the buffeting.

Visibility is good. There in some distortion around where the bends are in the screen but I easily look over the screen. After a few minutes I no longer even noticed it.

Total cost, including shipping to the US was $282.92USD. Shipping was FAST! Ordered on Saturday and it arrived on Wednesday. Great looking screen.

I'll take some pictures when I get a chance.

Did your bike have threaded bosses on the inside of the headlight mounts? Mine doesn't have them, and I've read here the other bikes don't have them as well.

I have the scrambler and yes, the bosses inside the headlight mount were threaded. If your’s are not you could always tap them and use a different sized bolt. It seemed that the headlight mount was loose in the forks once I removed the headlight. I was able to wiggle them to get more room under the dash so I could get the bolt and my fingers in there.

Thanks.
I have a Speed 400, but I believe the instructions for the installation are the same. The headlight mounting brackets on my bike do not have any bosses. They are castings, with a thin cross section, so drilling and threading a blind hole would not be possible. I wonder if the brackets on bikes made later are different.

I wonder if you could purchase and use the scrambler headlight brackets instead of the speed brackets. If so, you might get the threaded holes that way. I checked the Unit Garage website and the windshields are not listed for the Speed. Maybe just the Scramblers can have this mounting method…

The Triumph-branded windshield brackets for the Speed 400 mount in the same way: threaded bosses inside the headlight brackets. This is why I believe that the brackets were changed on later production bikes. Next time I'm at the dealer, I'll look at the bikes they have on the floor.

In preparation for a visit to the UK to visit my son and his family I did a bit of pre-ordering. On arriving at my son's home there were a number of parcels awaiting me.

When I get back to Oz I will first book in the 1,000km first service. After that guess what?

All nice changes, and no weight added, something that always puzzles me when folks load up their bikes with extra bits.

I know, that's probably just me! 😆
