Anyone know what the torque specs are for the exhaust header nuts? I used 14nm, sealed so far but couldn’t find any information on it anywhere. Getting the O2 sensor wire free from 2 frame locking zip ties inside chassis was TOUGH!
At the moment the most beautiful and most consistent with the 400x designI have the AEW silencer made specifically for the 400. I haven't installed it yet. it seems to be very well made, nice welds, finish etc. It has a removable db killer. The looks seem a bit awkward compared to stock but perhaps it will appear different once on the bike. I bought it in hopes of weight reduction as I think the stock silencer (400x) sounds great.
not sure which you mean. AEW or stock? At the moment the most beautiful and most consistent with the 400x design![]()
Could you remove the black paint and polish the stainless steel underneath? At one time it seemed Triumph was going to offer the 400x silencer in brushed stainless steel.
I don't think the painted cans are stainless as a magnet sticks to them although some stainless is magnetic. Also I pretty sure those in the picture are brushed rather than polished.Could you remove the black paint and polish the stainless steel underneath?
Well, I went ahead and bought one since it was at a reduced price on Ebay and I'm favorably impressed on several counts. First, the seller (sparezo) shipped it out the next day after I ordered for free, and kudos to FedEx incredible 6 day delivery from New Delhi to Northern California! Next the silencer is very well made from heavy duty stainless, fit perfectly and looks great. The sound with the db killer/baffle in, is virtually the same as stock but with it removed has a nice bark but not objectionable at all. The only potential weak point I could see would be the single set screw that holds the baffle in place. Haven't had a chance to test ride yet as it's been very wet and cold where I live. With a DNA air filter (next) it should let that great little motor breath freely.Anyone have experience with the AEW stainless steel exhaust silencer from India for sale on Ebay?
Is it much lighter than stock? My Enfield ones were half the original, significant saving.Well, I went ahead and bought one since it was at a reduced price on Ebay and I'm favorably impressed on several counts. I didn't weigh the new muffler but it is noticeably lighter than stockIs it much lighter than stock? My Enfield ones were half the original, significant saving.
Finally dry and warm enough for a test ride of the AEW silencer on my Speed 400. I Like It! Nice throaty sound with a little bit of decel popping. No dramatic increase in power but it seemed to rev more freely and has nice mid range surge. Love this bike - I've been riding for 50 years and have owned a lot of different bikes and this is right at the top of the list.Well, I went ahead and bought one since it was at a reduced price on Ebay and I'm favorably impressed on several counts. how did u do it , please do let me knowFrom Pune, have deleted the catalic converter.
I bought the Hitchcox slip-on, and it's perfect. Sounds great at all RPMs, and really don't see the need on such a small cc bike for a full system. A+++ on the Hitchcox.Greetings community,
So who has done exhausts on these bikes? Kits, custom, or otherwise?
Only thing i've been able to find online are Zard and Hitchcox.
I'm in the US (Colorado) and picked up my speed 400 about a week ago. Sounds great but i think could maybe sound better.
I've been looking at just getting a shorty megaphone or something comparable from Dime City or something and just welding it on but i'd also kind of like to get rid of the cat too.
I see the O2 sensor on the header, I doubt its a wideband though so any significant change to the exhaust would probable require some ECU adjustment too correct? I don't have huge plans for the bike other than maybe a filter and exhaust. Just curious if i should go ahead and piece something together and exhaust wrap it or wait for the aftermarket manufactures to catch up.
I'm just getting back on motorcycles after about a 15 year gap so i'm a little behind on the latest i guess, either way love the bike.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Hitchcox has released a full system, but it's pricey.Do any of the slip-ons delete the CAT?
