So - I decided to keep my silencer after receiving a part refund via an excellent supplier & o also wrote to the manufacturer - suggesting the the exhaust for the 400x was modified at the back with a flat section & i provided a photograph showing where it was catching the back of the silencer.

I spoke with an exhaust maker - at a local shop and one solution was that you either 'flatten' or to put an indent - with a large ball hammer - where contact is shown at the back of the silencer.....however I decided to carry on thinking about it.......

So after much trial and error we have a solution.

I had to undo the header bolts and the other 3 exhaust mounts and put in washers as spacers at each location , mine ended up at @5mm , yours may need more or less....

I used a plastic strip wrapped in polyhene and sparyed with silicone to ensure gap stayed in place, between swinging arm and back of silencer, then tightened everything up and voila!

Looks good in my opinion and weighs @1.4 kg less than stock , with nice deep exhaust and with baffle in , not offensive!

I have suggested to manufacturers a flat section to back kf tge exhaust they make...

Well, I went ahead and bought one since it was at a reduced price on Ebay and I'm favorably impressed on several counts. First, the seller (sparezo) shipped it out the next day after I ordered for free, and kudos to FedEx incredible 6 day delivery from New Delhi to Northern California! Next the silencer is very well made from heavy duty stainless, fit perfectly and looks great. The sound with the db killer/baffle in, is virtually the same as stock but with it removed has a nice bark but not objectionable at all. The only potential weak point I could see would be the single set screw that holds the baffle in place. Haven't had a chance to test ride yet as it's been very wet and cold where I live. With a DNA air filter (next) it should let that great little motor breath freely.
A follow up on the AEW slip on: As I stated above, I like the look, fit and sound of the muffler but, after a couple hundred miles, the welds that hold the mounting bracket to the pipe broke. Luckily, I noticed it when one of the welds had broken but when I was removing it the other weld snapped also. The original beads were very neat but too small with little penetration. Cost me $50 to have it re-welded properly. Just a heads up to keep an eye on those stock welds.

As I said before, with the db killer installed the AEW sounds virtually identical to the stock exhaust - with it removed it has a nice throaty sound but not really loud since the cat does a lot of the muffling. At idle and low speed it definitely won't upset the neighbors - only has a little bark when you open it up but still not very loud.

this is so nice. thanks for this, but i have one question please, how do you remove the bottom sensor from the exhaust? or in the catalytic ? coz they have 2 sensors. one is in the top and bottom, im wanting to this to my scrambler 400x , can you pls let me know. thank you. enjoy the ride

Gday riders.
I need help and advice. I have 400x and planning to remove the stock exhaust. So basically im going to decat and removing the catalytic, my question is how to remove the bottom sensor from this? Thank you and ride safe everyone

I just looked at my 2024 Scrambler and it does not have that O2 sensor. If my bike had one & I wanted to remove it I would stick wrench in there and just "break" it loose. then I would carefully/slowly remove the header/cat and completely unscrew the sensor before pulling the header/cat away from the bike.Since you're decating the bike what are your plans for the second O2 sensor? I haven't seen any decats with ports for that sensor. As far as I am aware the software has yet to be cracked so there is no way to tell the s/w to not look for the sensor.

@Oldgoldie thank you for your response. My main plan is to remove all the full system and change it with low exhaust or maybe high.! Im just wondering of how to remove the sensor and the catalytic converter. Example of picture is included which is grabbed from google lol. If you see the picture there is no catalytic converter. So where is the sensor go from the bottom? Thank you in advance

So where is the sensor go from the bottom?
If I understand you right you are asking where does the lower sensor go on the new system. That is something I do not know. If there is no place to put it on the new system then there is the problem of telling the ecu to ignore it but I don't think anyone has yet developed the software to do that. If you are asking where the wire on the sensor goes I would guess it would connect to the harness (I don't know where) and from there to the ecu.

Thank you so much @Oldgoldie 🤙🤙
